The hospice home care from the point of view of the patient’s


Abstract:

The aim of this article is to answer the question: What conception of hospice home care as a part of the system of social services and social security would according to the relatives of terminally ill patients enable care of the ill at home? The foundation is definition of the terms: „life situation of the terminally ill and their relatives“ and „conception of hospice home care as a system of social services and social security“ Qualitative research method combining the techniques of semi-structured and narrative interview was chosen. Respondents were mostly relatives of the patients of the hospice in Rajhrad. The outline of the ideas of the interviewed on the institution of hospice home care was based on the research results. The demanded conception of hospice home care does not exist in the present day Czech Republic; it combines features of complex home care and mobile hospice. Professional and quality providing for the ill person’s needs is primary. The institution of hospice home care should offer miscellaneous variants of services based on individual needs of the patients and their families. It has been also found out that in order to enable home care, solving problems in other areas as well as bringing the option of home care into common awareness will be necessary.
