Social Services in the Slovak Republic – Conceptual Bases, Legal Framework and Application Practice


This article deals with a valuation of situation in delivering of social services in Slovakia. It is focused on three areas. The first one is the issue of conceptualisation of social aid in social services. It presents the concept of social inclusion and social functioning as current theoretical bases for social work in social services. Further, it is concerned about the basic characteristics of legal framework for area of social services in Slovakia, codified by the Social Services Act. The third part is dedicated to the analysis of key problems of law application in practice, namely the question of sustainable model of financing of social services. In conclusion, several recommendations are suggested for the area of delivering of social services.
