Community Schools – an Opportunity for Development of School Social Work?


The aim of this article is to highlight the importance of community approach and application of the community school model in a development of school social work. In my article, I will discuss the question, whether the environment of community schools can offer opportunities for the development of school social work. The article is first focused on introduction of community schools, on their historical development in the United States, Great Britain, and Germany. Then I offer the view on the development of community schools in the Czech Republic. Conclusion of the article is devoted to reflection on the work position of coordinator of community education in community school.
