Reflective Practice and Virtue Ethics: How to Connect Theory with Practice and Expertise with Humanity


The article deals with two approaches – the reflective practice and the virtue ethics. It tries to show that it is possible to enrich social work by new dimensions coming from the ethical tradition. First, it describes the reflective practice, what it brings to social work practice and how to perform such a reflection. The following part describes the virtue ethics. The closing part points out the similarity of the two approaches, which using similar tools may lead to the development of both expertise and humanity of a social worker.
