Abstract
OBJECTIVES: In the text, we aimed to answer how the relationship between the current state of institutionalization of Czech academic social work and the development of academic careers can be described based on professional papers and monographs. THEORETICAL BASE: We drew on a sociological perspective and used the theory of institutionalization and its impact on the development of academic careers. METHODS: Using the method of theoretical synthesis,w e formulated conclusions about the relationship between academic social work and academic careers. OUTCOMES: Based on the framework reflection on the institutionalization of academic social work, it is possible to assume diversity in the definition of the place of engagement of the profession. For this reason, we considered it necessary to define the concept of relationship in all its possible variants. In this way, we obtained a comprehensive model of the relationship that allowed us to reflect on the partial nature of the relationship between the field of institutionalization and academic career development. SOCIAL WORK IMPLICATIONS: The findings are relevant to academic social work and form a basis for exploring the relationship between the forms of academic social work and academic careers further. Our outcomes can be used indirectly as a basis for discussing disciplinary specificity as well.
